Being an Auckland Property Management specialist has had huge challenges in recent years. Two of the major issues being leaky building syndrome and meth contamination.
In a recently published research paper from the Prime Minister’s office by Sir Peter Gluckman the myth and misinformation surrounding meth use has been fully exposed.
The Prime Minister’s chief science adviser,Sir Peter Gluckman has tabled a comprehensive report.
“In the absence of clear scientific and health information, there has been an assumption among the general public that the presence of even trace levels of methamphetamine residue poses a health risk
There is absolutely no evidence in the medical literature of anyone being harmed from passive use, at any level. We can’t find one case.” Gluckman said.
In plain English, smoking or using meth affects the user, and has little or no adverse health effects upon passive exposure.
There is no medical evidence that passive exposure has a negative health impact on anyone – other than the user. People moving into a property that meth was consumed in are not exposed to negative health risks.
A significant portion of Auckland rental property has been subject to testing and if the test showed minute traces of meth, extensive remediation works were often carried out- costing 10’s of thousands of dollars. Gluckman’s report states that if these properties were the subject of the use of meth as opposed to the manufacture of methamphetamine these remediation works were .. “…often based on little or no actual risk.”
